About ScaleMyBake
ScaleMyBake is a free website for home bakers who need to resize a recipe or convert a measurement. It started from a simple problem: most recipe scalers turn "1/3 cup" into "1/6 cup", which no measuring cup can hold, and many converters quietly treat every cup as the same size and every ingredient as the same weight.
What the site does
- The recipe scaler multiplies each ingredient by the same factor and shows awkward results as cups and spoons you can measure.
- The cups to grams converter uses a published weight for each ingredient and tells you where that weight comes from.
- The guides explain the measuring questions that come up when you scale or convert.
Who runs it
ScaleMyBake is an independent site run by its owner. It is not connected to any flour, sugar or kitchen-equipment brand. We don't claim professional baking credentials, and we haven't test-baked recipes resized with the tools: the tools do arithmetic, and the guides say where arithmetic stops being enough.
How the pages are made
The tools and guides are written with the help of AI and then checked against the sources each page lists: US government unit standards (NIST), USDA FoodData Central for ingredient weights, and university extension guidance. The calculations run on one shared set of formulas that is covered by automated tests with independently worked answers. The methodology page lists the formulas, rounding rules and limits, and the editorial policy explains how errors are corrected.
Your recipes stay with you
Everything you type into the tools is calculated in your own browser. There are no accounts, and recipes are not sent to us or stored on a server. See the privacy page for details.
How the site is paid for
The site is free to use. We plan to support it with advertising. Before any ads are added, the privacy page will be updated to name the provider and explain your choices, and ads will be kept away from the calculator buttons and results.
