Privacy
In short: the tools run in your browser, we don't ask for an account, and today the site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Recipes and amounts you enter
The recipe scaler and the cups to grams converter calculate everything on your own device. The ingredients, amounts and titles you type are not sent to us or to anyone else.
Saved recipes
When you press "Save this recipe" on the recipe scaler, the recipe is stored in your browser's local storage so you can open it again later. Nothing is saved unless you press Save. Saved recipes stay on your device; we can't see them, and they don't move to your other devices by themselves. Use Delete next to a recipe, or clear your browser's site data, to remove them.
"Export all" downloads your saved recipes as a file to your device, and "Import" reads such a file back. The file is read in your browser and is not uploaded.
Share links
"Copy share link" puts the recipe itself inside the link, after the # sign. Browsers don't send that part of a link to our server, so we don't receive or store the recipe. But anyone who has the link can see the recipe, the link stays in browser history, and if you post it on a social network or send it in a message, that service will have a copy. Because we never store it, we can't delete a shared link.
Card images
"Download card image" draws the image in your browser and saves it to your device. It is not uploaded.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
The site currently sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising services. We plan to add advertising and basic visitor statistics in future. Before we do, this page will be updated to name each provider, what data it collects, and the choices you have, including consent where the law requires it. Any statistics we collect will never include the recipes or amounts you enter.
Server logs
Like most websites, the company that hosts the site may record basic technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. This is used to run and secure the site.
If you contact us
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to fix any problem you report. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your details.
Links to other sites
Guides link to sources such as USDA and NIST. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and questions
When this page changes, the "last reviewed" date above changes too. Questions about privacy can be sent through the contact page.
